One of the contestants in the ensuing community elections in Kakaka, Margibi County, Harris Victor Mulbah says there is a serious need for community development throughout Liberia to aid in fostering the nation’s development.
According to him, once communities are developed by community dwellers and leaders, it will mean a lot to the country. He spoke to our reporter on May 21, 2025 in the New Vai Town Community of Kakaka where he is contesting for the community chairman position.
Mr. Mulbah who is a former special assistant to former Representative Stephen S. Kafi of Margibi County District Number Three noted that at the time he worked with the lawmaker, he ensured that the community benefited a set of jersey, scholarship and financial aid through his advocacy.
He added that though the beneficiaries are in district #: 4, he made it a responsibility incumbent upon him then to see into it that they benefit through him from the leadership in district number three.
He lamented that in the past, the community has not been getting its fair share of things meant for communities in Kakata and the lack of representation have been key issues the New Vai Town Community suffered from over the years.
In outlining his vision for the community, he listed some cardinal things including community development, community representation, fair share of community benefits and many others.
He is running on the ticket of the Citizens Action Party or CAP along with others promising that the erection of a town hall for the community will be one of the party’s first priorities if successful.
He maintained that since the establishment of the New Vai Town Community which has three quarters, it has never had a town hall making it very difficult for the community to converge and discuss issues of development and progress.
He described the CAP as a redemption party meant to redeem the community from the eleven years of struggles and bad leadership that they have over the years encountered.
Meanwhile, Kakata has about 41 different communities and thousands of residents who are preparing for their elections.
