The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Margibi County, Patrick B. Kormazu, on Thursday presented his comprehensive one-year report highlighting significant strides in transforming the police force and fostering community trust since assuming command on July 8, 2024.
ACP Kormazu said when he took charge, the Margibi Police Detachment faced a dire situation marked by operational inefficiencies, dilapidated infrastructure, and eroded public confidence due to years of neglect.
According to him, his leadership vision rooted in discipline, accountability, collaboration, and strategic reform has steered the detachment through a remarkable phase of renewal and progress.
One of the earliest and most visible achievements he mentioned, is the revitalization of the police compound’s security fence area, previously a dumping ground for abandoned vehicles and motorcycles.
He added that under his directive, all obsolete vehicles were legally removed and relocated, giving way to a safer and more functional space.
The Margibi Police Boss noted that the compound now features freshly landscaped grounds, a modern security booth at the pedestrian gate, and a newly established restaurant for police personnel and dignitaries replacing outdated facilities.

These upgrades, he said have enhanced the station’s capacity to host briefings and meetings, accommodating up to 80 officers efficiently.
He indicated that beyond infrastructure, community relations were strengthened through strategic programs tackling urban sanitation and public order.
“The detachment facilitated the organized relocation of street vendors to designated marketplaces, improving traffic flow and safety.
Initiatives to upgrade foreign exchange zones and collaborative efforts with local authorities boosted sanitation standards, ” he explained.
He continued: “Notably, youth groups and disadvantaged citizens were actively involved in public cleaning campaigns, fostering a sense of shared responsibility for a healthier environment.”
ACP Kormazu asserted that his tenure emphasized restoring the bond between police and the community, regular community forums, public safety awareness campaigns, and direct dialogues with stakeholders such as motorcyclists, market vendors, and civic leaders became routine.
He stated that these engagements paved the way for mutual understanding and reinforced collective commitment to law and order in Margibi County.
ACP Kormazu’s report closes with a firm commitment to sustain and build upon these achievements, promising continued transparency, professional excellence, and dedicated service to the rule of law and community safety.
“This milestone is proof that focused leadership, teamwork, and public trust can revive institutions and foster safer communities.
We are laying a solid foundation for ongoing progress in Margibi County,” ACP Kormazu ended.
