In the wake of reported efforts by former lawmakers of Margibi to team-up their support against Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay of the county in the ensuing 2029 elections, the senator has seriously defied the ex-lawmakers from retiring him from the Liberian Senate as the county district #: 5 representative shows strong support to battling the senators opponents during the elections in 2029.
The former lawmakers including two former senators Roland C. Kaine and Oscar A. Cooper, Ballah G. Zayzay and Stephen S. Kafi of districts 2 & 3 have a picture of them posted. In the picture, each of them showed one finger.
It is reported that they took the picture after a meeting centered around uniting their forces to give their support to a candidate whose name is not disclosed or being heard yet in the upcoming elections who they believe can replace the senator.
Inside sources have it that former Senator Cooper is the most suited individual amongst them who is tipped to be sponsored by the Citizens Movement for Change or CMC Political Leader, Musa Hassan Bility.
While serving as the keynote speaker of the program marking the official induction of the Lango Town Community Leadership on Sunday September 21, 2025, the senator also ttok the time to fire back a challenge at the former lawmakers.
He said, “When we started in 2005, we started with many people. Today, some of them are angry people, people send me their pictures, say the people say they don’t want you to continue to be leader in Margibi, they want come together to remove you but you cannot remove me.”
He mocked them as soothsayers who claim to be able to make others rich when they are themselves poor.
He added that they are unable to convince the Margibians to vote for them but at the same time claiming be able to make people win him in the county.
He also stated, “Recently, we saw some of them being political marketers. Some of them have decided to have this county in wheelbarrow selling the positions for this county, selling the county.”
The senator indicated that they don’t want to raised leaders from the county but bringing people from elsewhere who can’t do anything for the count.
He spoke that the culture of hate and envy will not help when people are trying to portray Margibi or Liberia as a crab society where everyone fights to bring everyone down.
He challenged them saying, “Stand up and fight for yourself, present yourself! I saw the picture, I saw people who were senators in this county before, people who were representatives in this county before. As far as I know two persons who were senators from here before, one Representative from this very Kakaka before, so if you’re man enough, why can’t you come and run against Nuquay in 2029?”
He Margibi County Caucus Member continued that considering the picture he saw, some of them are fastly declining and he is not sure if they will even have the face to greet any voter in the county.
He narrated that the underlining intent is that they have decided to organize themselves as a team because they are looking for someone to sponge on for 2029 because times are hard. He claims that he loves the challenge which denotes the beauty of politics.
He said all he has to do is to focus on the work of the people of Margibi.
One of the former lawmakers in the picture, according to the senator who wore a yellow t-shirt and a very dirty jeans trouser failed the people of Larkay-ta where he hails from miserably when he served as senator in the county.
He bosted that he (Nuquay) had to go and build the senior high division of the school.
He wondered what have they done for the county that is giving them the bravery to say they will retire him in 2029.
He also averred that, “They have their bellehs in wheelbarrow, they’re looking for someone to fill their bellehs, they want somebody to sponge on and they are putting people in trouble. They are getting some people in trouble in this country . If you’re wise, avoid them.”
He urged that people avoid them because they are currently in political extension and have no stake in the county and nobody knows them anymore.
“They don’t have a voice in the county, don’t allow them to fool you, don’t allow them to mislead you, don’t allow them to get their cool bowl money from you every time,” Nuquay maintained.
While making a remark, Margibi County District Number Five Representative Clarence G Gahr said the senator is their own because he hails from their district so they will support him.
He assured the senator that the district will not fail him, challenging the opponents to come prepare as men if they want to fight Nuquay.
“No one is going to be afraid of them. We don’t talk, as you’re talking and taking your picture, we are working behind the scene. We are not stars to be on photos every day,” Rep Gahr noted.
He said if the oppositions show one finger, they will show five fingers pledging to rally about 99 percent of the votes in district five, work with other district to retain the senator in 2029.
Leadership, he explained is about longevity because the longer a person serves, the most experience he or she becomes with more benefits.
He claimed that it is because of the experience of senator that the storage fees at the port reduced from 35 cents to 2 cents and 9 cents benefit on every gallon of gas that is sold in the country. The nine cents go to support road projects in the country.
