The Margibi County Detachment of the Liberia National Police has charged and sent to court three men for cutting off the private part of a buried woman after stealing valuable items she was laid to rest with.
The Men (Joseph Dolo, James Flomo and Harris Binda) were arrested on January 13, 2025 after committing the acts on January 6, 2025 on Dillion Farm, Margibi County.
They desecrated the grave, stole the lady’s shoes, clothes and jewelries before cutting off her private part.
The perpetrators including a fifty three (53) year old man and two young men are currently being detained at the Kakata Central Prison or Carter High Prison in Margibi County where they were taken on January14, 2025.
Their charges according to the police fall under chapters 18 and 15, Section 18.12, Sub-chapter D, Section 15.51, all of the revised Penal Code of Liberia.
The case was reported to the police by James Gondon, the nephew of the deceased when he got information from the farm about the guys’ wicked actions.
While before the police, Joseph Dolo, in his voluntary statement admitted to the commission of the crimes which he linked James Flomo and Harrison Binda to.
The two has since distanced themselves from being involved with the acts.
In his explanation, Joseph Dolo said the three of them went to the grave of the deceased, Sianneh Ndorbor who was recently laid to rest on Dillon Farm after he was lured into the acts by the suspects James Flomo and Harrison Binda who told him that the coffin contained valuables items.
They, according to him used metal bars made available by James Flomo to destroy the grave.
He noted that after the grave was broken into, James Flomo went into the broken grave, came out with jewelries, a pair of the dead woman’s shoes and clothes.
Following that instance, he finally came out with the private part (vagina) of the woman which also according to him James Flomo had said that he wanted to use for ritual purposes for the establishment of his ‘Poro Bush.’
The secret was exposed after he threatened to throw the vagina out when disagreement ensued among them because he was denied his portion of the proceeds extracted from the dead and sold, a misunderstanding orchestrated by Harrison Binda.
At that point, suspect James Flomo and him engaged into a fight prompting his colleague to allege that he had stolen Fifty Liberian Dollars (50 LD) which was in his bag. He said it was during this incident that the town chief got involved and discovered the vagina in his (Joseph Dolo’s) bag.
As for James Flomo, in his statement made to police investigation, he said the allegation made against him by Joseph Dolo is untrue.
He said that the accused Dolo implicated him because he caused Dolo to be exposed and apprehended.
He stated that he had learnt that the accused Joseph Dolo was carrying a vagina in his bag during the late afternoon of January 12, 2025.
He was hinted by Harrison Binda who stated that the accused Joseph Dolo had earlier on the same day shown the vagina in the presence of Harris Binda and others in the bush where they had gone to work.
Based on this information, Flomo said he decided to put Joseph Dolo under the control of the town chief to check the bag, he encourage defendant Joseph Dolo to join him so they could smoke a cigarette but Joseph refused and started to leave.
Still in his attempt to stop Joseph from leaving, he stood in the path and stated that his money has gone missing so Joseph’s bag must be searched.
At that point they clashed until the town chief went around and checked the said bag at which time the vagina was discovered in Joseph Dolo’s bag.
The accused Harrison Binda, like the accused James Flomo, in his voluntary statement made to police investigation also vehemently denied the allegation made against him by Joseph Dolo.
He also stated that Dolo is getting him involved in the issue because he also brought Dolo to light by exposing him to James Flomo, who subsequently informed the town chief.
He said that while they were in the bush on the afternoon of January 12, 2025 cleaning a lady named Quita Sumo’s farm land, the accused Joseph Flomo asked him if he was a member of the Poro Society. He said that when he replied in the affirmative, the accused then took the vagina from the bag and showed it to him, telling him that it was given to him by his father in his dream claiming to have been desperate and ready to use it in doing terrible things in the area.
At that moment, he maintained that he alarmed, attracting the attention of Quita Sumo and another boy who also saw Joseph Dolo with the vagina.
