Lofa, the home county of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has triumphed as this year’s National County’s Sports Meet (NCSM) Championship carrier, amounting to the county’s second time now taking the championship since the establishment of the tournament. The first win was in 2021.
This landmark victory has made Lofans and supporters of Lofa very delighted especially in Zorzor, Voinjama, Salayea and Foya Cities, storming the streets jubilantly.
Lofa defeated Grand Gedeh in the grand final to emerge victorious at the first spot after beating Margibi in penalties in the 2024/2025’s seminal final at the Samuel Kayon Doe’s Sports Pitch.
Lofa which is said to have maintained most of their players since past few was initially paired in ‘Group C’ this year and qualified earlier.
They won Grand Gedeh two (2) goals to one (1).
In Zorzor, they were seen in the main streets blocking the road and making difficult it for vehicles to pass through for a while. Young men and women were also seen being engaged into dancing competition.
Our reporter says the folks were also storming the streets in the other cities like the folks did in Zorzor.
Lofa Player, Emmanuel Flomo was awarded both the most valuable player and highest goal scorer titles after securing six goals in total and the goalkeeper, Yusuf Mafin took the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Coach Kollie Korvah of Lofa took the best coach award too. In 2021, he also umbrellaed the county to their first chamionship in the history of county’s meet.
