Offices of the Larkay-ta Township are still being hosted in a very dilapidated building to the dismay of many people. The building which is the talk of the time now in Margibi has left a lot of people expressing their frustration in the commissioner, Martin K Sanegba and the Government of Liberia because of its current condition.
Throngtalk News Bureau travelled to the area and took a complete tour of the building, both in and out, taking pictures that are highly surprising to have anyone believing that the building can house local officials of the Liberian Government in this modified and modernized 21st century.
Commissioner Marting K Sanegba

The Larkay-ta Township is located in District #:4, Margibi County with headquarters in Compound Town, specifically at the market ground opposite the Larkay-ta Public High School. The building has broken ceilings, both in and out, damaged doors, very dirty bathrooms with embarrassing scenes, garbage is even stockpiled in one of the bathrooms creating the impression that the place is used as a dumb site.
It has windows with broken glasses and rusty steel rods along with faded and torn up rubber tiles.
The Floor Of The Building

The roof of the building has zinc unable to stop leakages during the rainy season. The commissioner still uses the building because it appears to be the only alternative for now, despite the appalling nature. There are all sorts of writings and drawings on the inside part of the walls.
The building has so many rooms initially used as offices but only a few are being utilized now. The seating condition is just one of the things that can make anyone condemn the local government officials in the area.
The Bathroom

There is absolutely nothing about the building that qualifies it to host offices of local government officials but it is still being referred to as the commissioner’s compound because the commissioner uses it to perform government’s duties all the times. A reasonable person will say it is a an abandoned building that the government just found to use as local government offices.
How be it, the incumbent commissioner, Sanegba inherited the particular situation of the building from his predecessor, George Cooper who decried the same situation but was not able to do anything about it until his tenue elapsed.
During the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s administration, the former commissioner, Omega Moses Sawyer (deceased), upheld the dignity of the area too, but reported some challenges, though the building did not have it’s present disgraceful set of circumstances.
The Roof

A citizen of the area remarked today: “It looks like the government is playing fun, look at the government office, no mehn!” Some people in the county blamed the former Representative Ben A Fofana as one of the persons who played politics and did absolutely nothing to improve the condition despite Larkay-ta being in his control area.
He had similar bad relationship with Mr Sawyer and one report says he actually opted many times for his removal but could not succeed because he did not have the voice and authority he now commands in the same Unity Party led administration then.
The Door

Ben, now a commissioner of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority or LTA, many says he should do something about that building under this regime because he comes from the county, he is the national vice chair for governmental affairs of the ruling Unity Party and the current commissioner is his confidant whom he recommended to the president. That has left a lot of people believing that Mr Fonana dressed the mask dancer in secret but mocking it in the public.
Mr Ben A Fofanah

On Saturday February 15, 2025, the commissioner, Martin K Sanegba, the Margibi District #: 4 Representative, Emmanuel O Yarh, Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay, Clan Chief Edwin K Naimah and many other chiefs had a closed door meeting in the room of the building that hosts the main office of the commissioner for several hours reportedly settling dispute between Com Sanegba and Rep Yarh who have been on disputed political paths.
Most of the people who went to Larkay-ta on Saturday February 15, 2025 described the building as a mockery to the citizens of the area by the government. They citizens say though the past government failed to do anything about the situation, this government is expected to pay attention and show a difference instead of following the same path of its predecessor.
The commissioner and the clan chief however pleaded with the senator who had gone to break grounds for the senior high division of the Larkay-ta Public School as a Legislative project to assist the township in doing something about the building.
They expressed the need for serious work on the building to be able to dignify them as local government officials in that part of Liberia.
