Police in Kakata City, Margibi County on Monday, March 10, 2025 arrested three suspected drug dealers in the county.
The suspects include 25-year-old John Sumo from Gbofehla Community, 40-year-old Nowah Tokpah from Bassa Community, and 22-year-old Anita Jallah (pregnant) from Kissi Community.
The arrests took place at an entertainment center that is reportedly owned by a lady identified as Kaymah Cole, the mother of Anita Jallah.
Though Kaymah Cole was not present during the operation, Anita and Nowah were allegedly caught selling the narcotic substances to John Sumo at the entertainment center.
According to Patrick B. Kormazu, Margibi’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, the police acted on a tip off and obtained a search and seizure warrant from the Court.
Mr. Kormazu narrated that upon executing the warrant, the police seized the narcotic substances including 120 pieces of kush, 170 pieces of tramadol, 37 ties of heroin, and 71 pieces of cocaine.
In addition to that, he disclosed that the police arrested cash amounting to L$28,490 along with drug scales and a tablet (iPod).
The suspects have since been turned over to the Kakata Magisterial Court for further processing before being transferred to the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in the county for investigation.
For his part, John Sumo has denied his involvement into drug trafficking.
John said he has been serving as an informant providing information to LDEA officers on drugs related cases.
The suspect indicated that he has for the past two days been trying to collect more information on the two female drug suspects in order to inform the officers about their involvement into drug trafficking.
Jonh said he was collecting additional information from the two suspect when he was arrested by the police and the court officer.
Meanwhile, the two suspects have also denied their involvement into drug trafficking accusing the police of wrongfully arresting them.
They also accused the police of stealing a little over L$120,000 while executing the arrest.
Anita Jallah reported that her L$52,000 was stolen by the police while Nowah Tokpah reported that more than L$68,000 was also stolen from her, but the police have denied their claims.
