In an effort to support the observance of the holy month of Ramadan, Margibi County District #:5 Representative Clarence G Gahr has distributed rice and cash amongst Muslims of the district.
The lawmaker who has always identified with the Islamic Community in the district during the fast month, made the availability of 250 25kg bags of rice and L$375,000.
The donation is worth over US$6,000 or over one million Liberian Dollars, according to the folks who presented the rice and money at the Weala Mosque which is the headquarter mosque in the district.
There are about 15 different mosques in the district and each of them was captured to benefit from the donation according to its population. They are in different regions of the district.
The gesture was delivered by the leadership of the Clarence And Friends Association or CFA headed by its Chief Executive Officer or CEO Karimu Fahnbulleh who was accompanied by the chief of operations, Alex G Fortune and office staffers of Representative Gahr including Nelson Tamba Walker (Political Officer) and Luke Kanneh Clinton (Special Assistance).
It was set to be done in consultation with the leadership of the Islamic Community in the district, Sheikh Adama Sumo.
The CFA is the political wagon which drove Mr. Clarence G Gahr to the Legislature in 2017 as a lawmaker as he now serves his second term.
The Political Officer, Walker said the presentation is in continuation of the lawmaker’s immense contribution to the Islamic Community in Margibi District #: 5. According to him, over the years, the leadership has done so much in reaching out to the Muslims in every area of the district.
He stated that the fact that Muslims are fasting in Liberia and the world, Rep Gahr sees it prudent to reach out them.
Luke Kanneh Clinton, the special assistance noted that the Muslims have always left their busy schedules to offer prayers of hope and blessings for the nation, something he added that has always also prompted the lawmaker to support their endeavors in the district.
Chief Executive Officer or CEO of the Clarence And Friends Association (CFA) Karimu Fahnbulleh who himself is a Muslim described the donation as a little token but said Allah accepts gestures not on the basis of the quantity but the intentions of the givers.
He said a million of dollars may be given but if it is given with an unclear intention, it goes in vain.
He stated: “On behalf of the office and my colleagues, we brought you people 250 bags of rice, with 375,000, to be distributed in district 5, the entire mosques.”
He narrated that it would be distributed according to the listing made by the team which would be presented to the chief Iman of the district, Sheikh Adama Sumo also working in collaboration with the team.
