In a significant push to advance journalistic integrity and media responsibility, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has announced plan of release an official policy document to guide the professional registration, accreditation, and accountability of journalists, media, and communication practitioners as well as media institutions in Liberia.
The union in a press statement released on Monday, said the document will be released on this Tuesday, 18 March 2025 at a press conference that will take place at the PUL Headquarters on Clay Street, Monrovia, at 10am.
The union through its president, Julius Kanubah said during the press conference, the PUL will announce the official date for the commencement of the much-anticipated professional registration, accreditation, and accountability of journalists, media and communication practitioners as well as media institutions.
The release indicates that the PUL will also announce the key activities leading to and marking the celebrations of this year’s World Press Freedom Day which will be occasioned by the mobilization of financial resources to offset an inherited debt of US$28,722 and to construct the Union’s Headquarters.
The Union is meanwhile inviting all journalists, media, and communication practitioners to the launching ceremony of the official policy document, the first in the most recent history of the PUL.
