Margibi-Liberia, March 10, 2025: Margibi County District #: 4 Representative, Emmanuel Yarh has in a very serious tone described politicians as ungrateful people.
The lawmaker himself who is a politician made the statement while performing a ground breaking ceremony in Weala, District #:5 for the rehabilitation of the Bullorquelleh Road on March 10, 2025.
He uttered the statement which came as a shock to folks in attendance at the program including the contractor (Moses Darmoi), local chiefs, and his district development council headed by Mr. Emmanuel Folley, the Kakata City Manager (Reuben Blackie), Upper Margibi County Labor Commissioner (Anthony Opa Moses), youth, elders and many other individuals.
The road runs from the Bullorquelleh Junction in Weala and extends deeply into district #:4 in Margibi County.
He noted: “You know we politicians are just ungrateful.” He reiterated: “Politicians we are ungrateful. Some of us what we can’t do, that’s what we lie to you that we are cable of doing.”
He noted that some politicians will claim to be doing something at a particular place but when people do a follow up, it turns up to be a lie.
Speaking directly about the road, he disclosed that he has been finding it very difficult to do the rehabilitation, adding further that he engaged the Ministry of Public Works or MPW who gave assurances many times but did not live up to them.
According to him, he could not keep waiting for government’s time while the people look up to him for the road to be rehabilitated for their smooth movement.
He added that it is expensive to hire a machine to do the said road work so one of his good friends who is Moses Darmoi decided to assist with his machine.
Mr. Dramoi is the Chief Executive Officer or CEO of the MOBEL Incorporated which is a notable Liberian construction firm.
Had Mr. Darmoi not agreed to add his (Darmoi’s) machine to one the district has, they would not have succeeded in undertaken the project, the lawmaker indicated.
He said the road work will extend to as far as beyond the Richard-ta belt and the commencement took effect as of the day of the groundbreaking.
Also speaking, Mr. Darmoi, the contractor who said he did the assessment, quotation, the cost of the project and encouraged the lawmaker to implement, narrated that it will take the lawmaker about US$48,000 to implement the project.
According to him, what the lawmaker is doing now is just a portion of the road which goes as far as Sekey Town.
He spoke that the road has about four major spots that need to be focused on and they are places along the road that normally stop the movement of people during the rainy season.
He told the audience that he has contributed many times to motorcyclists in the area who most often do minor works to maintain the road but all the efforts have proven to be very temporary.
He appreciated the lawmaker for coming to do a tangible work on the road.
