A former representative candidate of Montserrado County Electoral District #: 1, mainly from the Todee
region, Momo F Dannah has seriously stressed the need for the the Government of Liberia to grant an
electoral district status to Todee Statutory District.
Speaking to reporters in Compound Town, along the Bong Mines Road in Margibi County Electoral
District #: 4 when he has gone to grace the occasion marking the first district report of Representative
Emmanuel O Yarh on March 26, 2025, Mr Dannah stressed the need for Todee to gain an electoral
district status for the purpose of advancing developments for residents of the area.
He also noted that this will help the district to benefit from the government and leaders assuming key
positions in government.
He said Todee is a statutory district which has seven clans and one township.
The clans according to the former representative candidate include Kpo Clan, Maqueh Clan, Dei Clan,
Meng Clan, Fahnseh Clan, Nyei Clan and Pleemue Clan along with Mount Coffee which is the township.
He further mentioned that the area has a huge population estimated around 45,000 inhabitants and
also accounts for a large portion of Montserrado County Electoral District #: 1.
Montserrado District #: 1 is composed of Careysburg, Todee, Mount Coffee and Louisiana.
The man who is also domiciled in Kakaka, contested and arrived at the forth place during the 2023
elections in Montserrado County District #: 1 among 33 candidates where he got overwhelmingly
supported by residents of Todee.
Momo who told reporters that he built roads, churches, schools and bridges and turned them over to
the government, further said if Todee does not stand on its own as an electoral district before 2029, he
will not contest the next elections even though he will fulfill all of his promises made to the people.
He went on to state: “That’s the only way Todee People will benefit! But if this district is not divided,
Todee stand on its own, nothing we will benefit and that is why you always see the rural area, no
development because the district is big. The district is more than county.”
According to Momo F Dannah who is also heavily involved with agriculture and has created employment
opportunities for some residents of the district, no matter the amount of money someone has, being it a
lawmaker or not, one’s hand marks can not possibly show in all parts of the district because of its
geographical size.
He said district #: 1 recorded around 67,000 registered voters.
He also used the occasion to admonish Residents of Todee to stop allowing themselves being trucked
during the electoral period. He lamented that this undermines the well-being of the district as he also
called on citizens of Margibi who trucked from Todee to desist from the act.
Meanwhile, an electoral district is headed by a representative through election for about six years (in
the Liberian context), people at the age 18 and above are allowed to register, campaign and vote a
candidate of their choice qualified by the National Elections Commission (NEC), while a statutory district
is led by superintendent appointed by the president of the country.
