The Margibi County Administration has postponed the launch of the long awaited “Margibi Say No To Drugs” Campaign.
The postponement which was announced over the weekend through the Margibi County Protocol Officer, Joe Benson Josiah has raised a serious concern in the county with many of the residents wondering about the rationale behind said suspension.
According to Mr. Benson, the “Margibi Say No To Drugs Campaign” was postponed to an unannounced date which will be decided by the county administration.
Our investigation discovered that the county superintendent, O Jay Morris, Jr who ordered the postponement of the launch of drugs campaign claims that insufficient publicity was made about the launch.
This, he believes would have led to a very low turnup but sources in the corridors of the county administration says all community chairpersons in the county were instructed to attend the program with a majority of their residents.
Communications were further sent to leaders, major stakeholders, and organizations from all parts of the county to form a part of the program according to the publicity created by the county administration.
Superintendent Morris, while announcing plan for the launch of the drugs campaign in the county some time ago said the county was gearing up to launch one of the biggest campaigns against the menace where a huge number of the residents will gather in Kakaka to show their support to the process.
He also stated that, “We had a joint security meeting and in my office, I called all of the security apparatuses to come and wanted us to discuss and see how we can address the issue of drugs in Margibi County. I gave an inscription saying Margibi Say No To Drugs.”
How be it, it is nuclear when the launch will actually be as a lot of people are eager to join the process.
There were also individuals with t-shirts in plastics claiming to have printed them for the program. Some of the people said the postponement came as a surprise because a lot of them were already in high gear.
Meanwhile, the Government of Liberia under the leadership of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr has attached importance and urgency to the fight against drugs.
Drugs is also a major breeding ground for the retrogression of a reasonable number of Liberian Youth.
