(L-R), Commander Alex Flomo And ACP. Patrick B. Kormazu

The Commander of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) in Margibi County, has accused the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in the county of undermining his office.
Mr. Alex Flomo told reporter recently that Mr. Patrick B. Kormazu is in the constant habit of arresting drug dealers in the county and turning them over to the court for investigation instead of the Margibi Detachment of the LDEA.
He said on September 10, 2024 Commander Kormazu arrested a notorious drugs dealer to be identified as suspect Teta Jackson of Lango Town Community in Kakata with huge quantity of drugs and she was not turned over along with the drug confiscated to the LDEA in the county for investigation.
In addition to that, the Margibi LDEA Commander said on November 13, and 22 respectively, the Police Commander also arrested four (4) notorious drug dealers to be identified as suspects Patient Kamara, Tarnue Kollie, Lorpu Troukklor and Alice David from the same Lango Town Community with huge quantity of illicit substances, but similarly they were not turned over the Agency for investigation.
He asserted that these suspects were rather taken to court without the involvement of the LDEA Margibi County Detachment.
Mr. Flomo said the ‘ugly behavior’ of ACP Patrick B. Kormazu has the propensity to undermine the operations of the LDEA in the county.
The Margibi LDEA Boss acknowledged that any security institution or apparatus operating in the county has the right to arrest anyone who is involved into drugs business because as head of the Agency he will not be everywhere at the same time, but accused Mr. Kormazu of not liaising with the Agency to carry out the arrest as a team.
According to him, unlike Patrick who has been arresting people carrying them to court without his knowledge trying to undermine his office; he (Alex) has been arresting single-barrel and single-barrel rounds turning them over to the police because he knows that they are responsible for that.
He furthered that it is not the police that will defend these drug cases in court, rather it is the LDEA, noting that to make the arrest is not just all to it, but to finalize the case which is the prosecution and sentencing of the accused.
“We will not be aware Patrick will just send the people to court where the drugs can go we don’t know, because portion of the drugs should be turned over to the court and the remaining portion turn over to the LDEA so during the time of burning on June 26th we can display these drugs to the public and do the burning” he explained.
He said the suspects are arrested and the LDEA is not in the know as to how the arrests are made, as well as the quantity and quality of drugs as such, the Agency will not be able to respond to questions from the court.
Mr. Flomo however, blamed the actions of the Margibi Police Boss on the decision that was taken by his (Alex) office to release one Haji Rogers on grounds that he was not involved with illegal possession of drugs.
The Margibi LDEA Boss explained that his investigation established that Mr. Rogers was arrested by the Police Commander because he was within the perimeter where alleged drug-dealers were seen, but he was not part of the crime, as such he deemed it necessary to have him released.
He noted that the family of Haji Rogers were then contacted to sign for his release something he said was done, but such action has led to Mr. Kormazu not wanting to work with him.
Commander Flomo then vowed that he will not implicate any citizen who has no connection to drugs to the crime in the county based. When contacted, ACP Patrick B. Kormazu declined to comment on grounds that it is a security issue and that it will be handled at the county Security Council meeting expected to take place in Kakata this week.
