The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyumah Boakai took office in January 2024 and he has completed his first year of leadership. He has just begun another one this same January.
In fulfillment of the Constitution of Liberia under article fifty-eight (58), Mr. Boakai is expected to report to the Legislature which is the first branch of the government his administration’s legislative program as this is expected to be presented today January 27, 2025 which marks the fourth working Monday of this year in January.
Ahead of this, many Liberians are of mixed views, some of them are optimistic that the president has a lot of good things in stuff for this year and that he will point to a lot of things that his administration has done in the last one year.
Others believe that he has done little or nothing, therefore, his report will not be encouraging. At the same time, many of them believe that the president has done a lot of things that most Liberians may not be in the know of so it is necessary for him to report and clear the air.
There are even those who are of the opinions that the prevailing living condition of Liberians can already speak to the fact that president is not doing well but opposing views to them have it that Mr. Boakai took over a damaged country which he is trying to repair, so his current performance is worth commanding.
All of the following views have brought Liberians in general to the point of of wondering what really is in their president’s 2nd Sate Of Nation Address or SONA Basket. It is an undisputed reality that the president has under taken some developmental initiatives since he assumed the leadership. Though he has his lapses like any other person, he also has positives attributes. He has allowed some things to happen under his watchful eyes for which he is being criticized.
The president set his hundred day deliverables and delivered on some of the promises after the time set for implementation. How be it, it appears unfair to jump the gun about president’s annual message.
The report is anticipated to cover what this government has done and continue to do, what it will do or the current state of the nation. In other words, the progress of the ARREST Agenda thus far. The ARREST which stands for the Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism cover different sectors of the country.
All ears are opened today to hear what has happened under the various of pillars of the ARREST Agenda, if the agenda is being implemented and making impacts in the lives of the citizens or not.
Everyone is so eager to know what is in the president’s SONA Basket today so Liberians look forward to hearing from him, the question remains, what is in the President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s State Of Nation Address or SONA Basket or what is in the president’s report today?
