A very key confidant of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai (then political standard bearer of the now ruling Unity Party), Henry Pedro Costa who broke away with Boakai during the heat of the 2023 elections citing betrayal has once again cemented his bitter relationship with the president.
Henry P Costa wrote on his official Facebook page during the morning hours of January 31, 2025 expressing great delight in his reunion with President Boakai whom he (Costa) calls ‘Uncle Joe’.
Before parting ways, Costa was seen gathering support and making frantic efforts for Boakai’s presidency.
Mr Costa and Mr Boakai who refer to each other as nephew and uncle met on the night of January 30, 2025 for nearly two (2) hours having discussion characterized by sharing of stories and laughter with his uncle’s trademark humor shining through, he added.
He also posted on his official Facebook page some memorable pictures of him and the president smiling, as he reduced his height very closed to the president.
He wrote: “Last night was a truly unforgettable reunion with my uncle, President Joseph N Boakai. Our reconciliation meeting which lasted almost 2 hours, was a heartfelt and solemn experience that I will cherish forever.”
He said at one point in time, Boakai equipped: “When the prodigal son returns home, it is the cow that suffers because it is slaughtered for the feast.”
If this statement made by Costa relating to Boakai is true, considering both Biblical and political meanings, one will definitely inquire, who are Boakai’s political cows?
Nephew Henry P Costa And Uncle Joseph Nyumah Boakai During Their Reconciliation

The return of the prodigal son is described in the Bible in Luke 15:11-32. This parable of the prodigal son, which is also known as the parable of the lost son, talks about a loving father, or a forgiving father.
In the parable, Jesus tells the story of a prodigal son who returns home to his father after repenting for his sins. The father runs to embrace his son, filled with love and compassion. The son asks for forgiveness, and the father tells his servants to prepare a robe, ring, and sandals for his son.
Costa claimed to have reconciled with Boakai, but has Uncle Joe whole heartedly accepted his nephew?
This remains something necessary to think about giving the level at which Costa went with Boakai during the elections.

Politically, the coming back on board of a key political actor, confidant etc could be referred to as the return of the prodigal son, especially in the present case of Henry Costa and President Boakai. The political cows herein fall in certain categories and few case studies of them have to do with those who joined Boakai in the dime minutes and people in his political circle who jump from one party to another. The political cows may even be those who are in positions from the past regime but on Boakai’s time bomb.
If Costa is considered a prodigal son by Boakai, who are the political cows that could be slaughtered for the feast of his return and how are they going to actually be slaughtered?
Slaugther refers to the killing of animals for food but in this context and situation, slaugther does not refer to killing but jeopardizing anyone’s interest for Costa’s sake. Therefore, will there be a feast for Costa ordered by his uncle Joe?
Who are Boakia’s political cows? How are they going to be slaugthered for his prodigal son Henry P Costa and other political returnees who the president sees as being key to his political life?
