Margibi, Liberia, March 20, 2025: Some Kpelleh Gospel Musicians in Liberia have expressed serious disappointments in the manner and form in which Liberians, mainly lovers of the Kpelleh Gospel Music disregard them and show lack of support.
Two of them, Daniel Korkoyah and Romans Massaquoi expressed their disenchantments recently at the Conqueror Church in Kakaka, Margibi County during the official launching ceremony of Romans’ latest Kpelleh Gospel Music title: “Don’t allow the devil to fool you”.
Romans who is a visually impaired young man had earlier made several Kpelleh Gospel Songs before the one he just launched.
Daniel and Romans, like other musicians in the church who voiced out their unhappiness about the attitudes of Liberians against them, openly lamented in the church that people show too much of disregard, lack of support and interest in the gospel vocalists but they enjoy playing their songs even in the church, at their weeding, birthday and funeral ceremonies.
The launch of the song which also brought together a lot of gospel vocalists dominated by visually impaired Kpelleh Gospel Musicians was marred by poor attendance even though Romans Massaquoi claimed to have written a lot of ordinary people.
He said his decision for not sending out communications to politicians and leaders was predicated upon the experience he has with most of them relating to his past programs.
According to him, his message to the Liberian People in the song is to remain committed to God no matter the prevailing situation.
He stated that he has observed that a lot of people are backsliding from the service of God because things are though with them so he now sees the need to encourage them into being committed to the Almighty God.
For his part, Daniel Korkoyah, a popular Kpelleh Gospel Artist in Liberia said people like to use their songs for occasion but don’t have interest in their well-being.
He noted that he is contemplating on declining his invitation to represent Margibi in a national musical county’s meet.
He noted that he would have better been placed under Bong instead of Margibi though his county is Margibi because people show too much of lack of interest in most of the activities he has had in the county.
He mainly blasted the leaders and politicians in the county for what he also termed as their disinterest in supporting the gospel. He said he challenges any of the leaders in Margibi prove that they have ever attended any program Kpelleh Gospel Music, especially in the church.
