The Assistant Commissioner of Police or ACP Patrick B Kormazu of Margibi County is urging members of the Liberia National Police, mainly officers in Margibi to discharge their duties with professionalism in line with ethical standards of the LNP.
He said the police must through their behaviors create the confidence and trust amongst the citizens, especially those of them who show misconducts in their functions.
He narrated that the Liberia National Police or LNP is an institution enacted by law with guidelines that prescribe the ethics and conducts of officers of the police, so the police must act orderly instead of breach of ethics.
He was speaking at the Kakaka Intellectual Forum recently where he said statement made by him at the forum are not the views of the authorities of the LNP in Liberia but his views.
He told the forum that in line with his own measures put into place as Assistant Commissioner of Police of Margibi, officers will go through rehearsal regularly to keep them on track and up to date.
Mr. Kormazu who has done tremendous improvements at the Kakaka Police Station and help in decongesting the streets since his ascendency informed the Kakaka Intellectual Forum or KAIF that he normally makes it his duty to appear at public platforms where he is invited to provide information to the public about the police because by creating understanding to the public about the police, it makes the people believe in the police and have the free and willing minds to work in line with the police.
ACP Kormazu who usually tours various communities and the main streets of Kakaka at night with some of the officers stated that to build trust, the police must be accountable to the people they are providing security for. He spoke that he has instructed his section heads to kindly update the media about information regarding investigations on a need-to-know basis.
He also noted that every department of the Liberia National Police is now involved with awareness and sensitization programs.
He assured that officers will be checkmated and not shielded under his leadership in Margibi if they engage into wrong doings.
In a related development, the leadership of the Kakaka Intellectual Forum (KAIF) officially extended an honorary membership to Mr. Kormazu and encouraged him to always make himself available at the forum to provide necessary information about the police.
The President of KAIF, Andrew Kollie shared the official intellectual water of the forum which has to do with the peanuts and ataye in glasses symbolizing that commander’s membership is considered by the forum.
