The 2024/2025 Liberia National County’s Sports Meet officially commenced on Sunday January 12, 2025 in Bong which is the official host for this year’s edition of the tournament and in Grand Gedeh, Sinoe and Grand Cape Mount Counties as co-hosts.
The counties, considered as the teams during the sports meet are placed in four categories, ‘Groups A, B, C and D.
In Group A, the teams are Bong, Grand Bassa, Maryland and Bomi with Bong hosting, in Group B, Grand Gedeh, Grand Kru, Montserrado and Margibi Counties are the teams as Grand Gedeh hosts, Sinoe, River Cess, Lofa and Gbarpolu are in Group C having Sinoe as their host and in Group D, Grand Cape Mount, Nimba and River Gee are paired, hosted in Grand Cape Mount.
Established during the year 1956 in Liberia, the County’s Sports Meet is organized by the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Internal Affairs as a national symbol of reconciliation and unity in Liberia.
Here are updates on the matches of Sunday January 12, 2025 across Liberia.
In the football category, Grand Bassa won Bong 1 goal to zero, while Maryland and Bomi played a draw game of no goal or zero to zero. In Group B, Margibi and Montserrado challenged each other and ended securing one goal each, Grand Gedeh beat Grand Kru 2 goals to 1. For Group C, Sinoe defeated River Cess 2 goals to zero, Lofa drew with Gbarpolu 1 to 1 goal. In Group D, Nimba emerged victorious over Grand Cape 2 goals to 1.
In the kickball, Margibi and Montserrado played a zero to zero game, Grand Gedeh lost to Grand Kru zero to 1. Sinoe lost to River Cess zero to 1, Bong fell prey to Grand Bassa 1 to 4. Lofa and Gbarpolu stand at equilibrium with 7 to 7, Bomi and Maryland, 2 to 1 and Grand Cape Mount and Nimba will meet on Wednesday of this week.
