The Taongi National University or TNU in Salala, Lower Bong County has begun holding interactive meetings with members of the student community in Liberia following the official launch of the institution’s student loan program recently.
The rationale behind the meetings with students is to explain the essence and procedures of the student loan program. The University has convened previous meetings and intends to stage further meetings in different regions of the country.
The most recent meeting was held in Baypolue, a central town for towns and villages located around the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) Plantation in District #: 5, Margibi County with several young and old people in attendance.
The attendants of the meeting, most of whom are incapacitated financially to commence and resume university studies were very amazed upon the official disclosure regarding the student loan program by Dr. Mike M. Sonpon, TNU President and Provost.
During the meeting in Baypolue also attended by few of the students and a lecturer of the Taongi National University, some parents and children from the surrounding, Dr Sonpon said the opportunity is for interested individuals both adults and youth who want to achieve quality higher education, mainly at TNU.
According to him, TNU’s aim is to make sure that all Liberians have access to quality higher education that is affordable and available to all.
He encouraged the folks in attendance at the meeting to take an advantage of the program, adding further that the university works in a way that has space for everyone.
He stated that they have been hosting meetings in Upper Margibi and Lower Bong Counties, while other meetings are being planned to be held accross the country, describing it as an ongoing process.
He told them that though the fees at the school is very affordable per semester in the amount of US$258, the school is doing everything possible to ensure that no one is left behind when it comes to obtaining quality higher education.
Individuals at the meeting appreciated TNU and promised to relay the information to others to enable more people benefit.
TNU is an emerging world class university working very hard to meet and exceed global academic standards with emphasis on research, promoting and practicing global trend in research, creativity, and innovation.
It is approved by the national commission on higher education in Liberia to offer and award bacher’s degree.
The ‘Taongi National University Student Loan Program’ was launched to enable less fortunate individuals acquire quality higher education.
Assisting the Government of Liberia to promote quality higher education that is affordable and available to all, the program is aimed at accommodating people desirous of attending theschool but unable to pay the full tuition.
